Shittiest Mix Tape Challenge - Dubya Dubs!

Yesterday I mentioned Paige's Shittiest Mix Tape Challenge. Today I give you my contributions; my offerings that just might make you question why it is that you come here. "If he has this music on his hard-drive, what else about himself isn't he telling us?" My music collection is not as expansive as some, but it's still up there and there are quite a few tracks that should end up in the suck bin of a second-hand record store. I don't know why I keep them, I really don't. Maybe I'll use them as a lesson for Little Dub: No sucky music...EVER! Or maybe it's just another example that we're all a bit cheesy when it comes right down to it. Well, we all have our skeletons in the closet, don't we? I've seen other lists out there featuring JJ Fad, MC Hammer, Poison, Lita and Ozzy and those are all fine examples. But I know...I KNOW...the same people that included these songs on their list are the same people that, when no one is looking, crank them up when they come across the speakers and sing along. Who hasn't done the Hammer Dance while driving? Raise your hand. That's what I thought. Now, I apologize, I don't have the mp3s handy at the moment, but tonight, I will do what I can to post them all - shhhhh, don't tell the RIAA - though I think they would be happy that someone might still be interested in listening to these - they might even pay me for doing this. Without further ado, Game on!

Martini Ranch - Hot Dog (12" remix) - from the Sire compilation Just Say Yo! Sample lyrics: Sit, now beg/Sit, now beg/Scratch 'n sniff/Scratch 'n sniff/ Knick knack paddy whack/Give a dog a bone/Bury it, hot dog/Knick knack paddy whack/Give a dog a bone/Bury it, now get on home. Whew! Lyrical genius I tell ya...Genius! Bonus points: Bill Paxton (Chet from Weird Science) was a member.

Andrew Ridgley - Shake - Yes. That guy. The one in the background of all the Wham! videos. 'Nuff said? I think so.

Jane Child - Don't Want to Fall in Love - I'm not sure what it was: the mohawk? The cornrows? The nose chain? Doesn't matter now. Some people put her in the same sentence as Grace Jones and Prince. Me? LaToya Jackson - that's it. LaToya Jackson.

Rockwell - Somebody's Watching Me - No one has this on their list? I can't believe it. Someone's not being honest out there. I wouldn't have included it, but Dutch opened the Michael Jackson door with Eddie Murphy. I'm closing it with Kennedy William Gordy...um... I mean Rockwell (no...you don't misnomer boy) son of Motown founder Berry. And see how he uses his eyes on the album cover to convey the whole "watching" thing. Spooky.

KonKan - Puss 'N Boots/These Boots (Are Made For Walking) - Scratching, a Robert Plant-like, helium fueled "ahh, ahh, ahh, ah" from Immigrant Song, and a Nancy Sinatra sample - what in that doesn't scream instant classic?

I never made the connection that Paxton was Chet. "Big Love" will never be the same for me again.

No offense to the others, but you are my best competition so far.

Do you OWN Andrew Ridgely's solo album? If so, wow.

We're not worthy!

Dude.

Dude.

That Rockwell song is a nice touch, but I'm with Sarah...how can you even have passing familiarity with an Andrew Ridgley album? That's the only album I ever saw Rolling Stone give half a star to...

I heard "Shake" on a German radio station and club in Neu Ulm used to play it...a lot...it was just one of those songs that was stuck in my head. And, the rest, as they say, was history...a sad history, but history nonetheless.

I don't know...this did suck, but Sarah had "Jordy." That's tough.

this is so bad I kind of want to listen to it.

This comment is arriving a little late but I had say that I have three of those songs on my own pc. I own the CD's of Kon Kan and Martini Ranch (there are far, far better songs from them btw) and I have Rockwell on my harddrive.
