As you can probably tell, I've been in a blogging funk for well over a month. I don't know what the hell my problem is - I have a lot of stuff going on that I'm sure you'd all like to hear about. Or, at the very least I'd write about it and hope you stumble in here all drunk and stupid, then find my writings charming and decide to stay for a while. Maybe you'd even subscribe to the feed and visit on a regular basis. But, in order to consider anything "regular" (other than my morning...um...nevermind) there has to be some kind of consistency and, well, I'm certainly lacking in that regard as of late. For some reason, I've just hit a wall and, after doing so, I decided to sit down, rub the lump on my forehead and not be in a rush to stand back up. And, it's not just here that I haven't been prolific. I believe the quality of writing over at my other place has suffered as well without my presence and rapier-sharp wit. (I kid, I kid.)
So, for now, allow me to just throw some questions out there and get some opinions. They are broad in nature - I'm just interested in getting some feedback from readers - maybe learning a little bit about each of you. Think of this as a sort of Playboy Playmate questionnaire without the centerfold and great articles. I promise I'll get back in the groove over the next few days.
What's giving everyone's TiVo a workout? With newcomers like Studio 60, Heroes, Kidnapped and The Nine and the return of stalwart favorites like Lost, CSI and, yes, Gilmore Girls (a guilty pleasure I have copped to more than once so your disdain or questioning glances will surely be ignored) ours is doing an admirable job.
What's in heavy rotation on your iPod (or similar music device for the non-conformists out there)? Me? The Killers, Raconteurs, Kasabian, Depeche Mode, The Editors, Scissor Sisters, The Rapture, The Walkmen, Wolfmother, Razorlight and, of course, Gnarls Barkley.
Any movie recommendations out there (specifically good DVDs)? Mrs. Big Dubya has never really been a movie-going person like me and now that we have Little Dub, movie-going has really become a thing of the past. Besides, I'd rather sit at home on my comfy couch with my feet up, beer or other bevvie in hand and watch something good - the ability to pause for refreshments or bathroom break is definitely a plus. So, if you've seen something you recommend, let me know.
Any blogs I should be reading? Any sites I should be visiting? I read a lot of blogs already - not Zero Boss a lot, but quite a few. The vast majority are dads who write, followed closely by the ladies. But, if there are other niches into which I should be delving, please let me know. That goes for sites too - I hit YouTube and other popular ones, but if there's something that's off my radar that should be a larger blip, I'd love to know.
Thanks for your feedback. Like I said, I hope to be out of this writing funk soon and be back to the funny and, of course, poignant. Oh, and by the way, go welcome back my good friend, Kara, who almost put her blog out to pasture. I know she appreciates the love.

The LOVE! I love the love!! Woo-hoo! Love!
The blog, happily, is not out to pasture and my crazy death-threat mailing troll seems to have crawled back under her bridge. Maybe it was the call from the police, maybe she just had a change of heart. She's gone and that's all that matters.
Tivo? Tiiivoooo.... I know that name from somewhere. Hmmm. Seriously, I have had zero time to watch t.v. lately, BUT I did catch Studio 60 and we like that. That show about the third grade class as grownups? Also like it. I usually watch it from the treadmill at the gym so I can't always hear it over my own panting and sweating.
Just got the new Killers CD because I am the only person in the developed world without an ipod and I'm too much of a dope to work my generic MP3 player.
Sites to visit: I have a bunch, but alas not the time to link to them here. There's some hot chick who lives near you who writes a sweet blog. Check her out. It's pink and it has a picture of a cute baby on it.
Digging the new banner, btw.
The black keys, listen and be happy. I promise. We have similar musical tastes, I think you will enjoy. I also have Massive Attack in heavy rotation but mostly because they calm me down while I am on the treadmill panting and gasping for air.
Heroes was sort of stupid but I like studio 60. We still love My Name is earl and Weeds is a GREAT show. Rent the first season on DVD, watch 3 at a time (half hour each). You will actually love (tolerate) Showtime after that.
I too, love Studio 60. Also The Office and the old standbys Inside the NFL and The Daily Show.
I don't have my iPod yet. I'll get back to you in 4 - 6 weeks.
My new favorite sports blog is Kissing Suzy Kolber.
I haven't seen a movie in a year.
Hmmm glad you are back, but sorry you are in a blogging slump. It happens to us all.
Tivo um...CSI the original, Grey's Anatomy (like 75% of the blogworld), Numbers, Heros, The Amazing Race and Smith...although we haven't actually watched it yet. Oh and um...Extreme Home Makeover because I like to make my husband cry on Sundays.
Music - well I am a big nerd compared to you in music, so I plead the fifth.
Movies - X-Men the last stand just came out on DVD. Besides that, I think I have Stick it (the gymnastic version of Bring It On) on DVD waiting for me at home from Netflix. :)We've been catching up on Grey's Anatomy, so we haven't watched any movies lately.
TV(I don't own TiVo): Flavor of Love and Celebrity Fit Club
Movies: Anchorman, 40 Year Old Virgin, Finding Nemo
My iPod: Mr. Big, NIN, Tool, Coldplay, Trashcan Sinatras, Travis, Depeche Mode, Warrant, Poison, Queensryche, Marilyn Manson, Winger, Icon, Def Leppard, LA Guns, Bang Tango, Prince
My Blog!..come say 'hi'...
Sarah & the Goon Squad sent me.
I would never make fun of a man for admitting his love of "The Gilmore Girls." This coming from a man who had a strange fascination with both "Dawson's Creek" and "My So-Called Life." You and me, Dubs. We know real men watch chick shows!
TV: I'm worried my DVR is going to overheat. Between Lost, House, Studio 60, CSI, Friday Night Lights, Earl, The Office, Shark, Smith, Survivor, MLB, and the NFL? I feel like I'll never catch up.
Music...listening to the same stuff you are but eagerly awaiting the release of the new Beck CD.
That's about it. Gotta run. My TV is calling me!
Oh Dubya, we gotta get you out of that funk!
On my iPod: The Proclaimers, Bruce Springsteen's new CD featuring Pete Seeger songs, The Cure, Yaz, and Shrek 1 and 2 along with Curious George.(Just did some playlists for my kids, so I've been listening too)
Movie Recommendations: We recently saw "Little Miss Sunshine" and loved it. Napoleon Dynamite seems to be a film people love or hate, there is no middle ground. I happened to flippin' love it. As for rentals, we recently rented the original Planet of the Apes movie as well as all of the Marx Brother's films. One of my favorite movies of all time is "The In-Laws" with Peter Faulk and Alan Arkin. I can also sit thru "Harold and Maude" continuously.
Blogs to visit? Ours of course. ;) and the ones on our blogroll!
I like the websites Overheard In New York, chowhound, momsminivan.com, and MardiGrasCostumepics.com
Tivo? Ipod? I think I'm a Luddite compared to the rest of your readers.
Can't help you with movie suggestions. We are out of the movie going business due to the lack of babysitters.
TV must sees are: Lost, Grey's Anatomy, Home Makeover, House, Baseball....
What can I say? I have no life. And oddly, I'm PROUD of that.
Movie-wise, the big event I'm looking forward to is THE DEPARTED. In terms of movies I've seen, I definitely recommend HARD CANDY.
You need some wild sex to get you motivated. Could be a nice R-rated post as well:-)) Keep in mind this advice comes from themen who can't remember the last time he had sex because of the last pregnancy and it's problems:-))
When I have tons of ideas, that's usually when I get blocked. Instead of writing a lot I just don't know what to write about. I try to make a list of ideas and go back and cehck it out every now and then.
We don't have TIVO's over here but we've got something better. 100 mbit internet! DC++ and Bittorrent work hard to get my wife her supply of Gilmore Girls, Lost, Desp. Housewives and Prison Break Haven't checked out any of the new series yet.
My son loves the "new" Curious George. Hte best movie I've see in a ver long time was "The worlds fastest Indian" Thought it would suck but it was incredible. My son also loves "Bob The Builder" and "Little Red Tractor". Suits me fine since those animated movies have a nice message and are not like the new high-tech crap.
A web site you should chekc out is Steve Pavlinas who write about real useful stuff. For your geek fix you go to Lifehacker or download a pocast from TWIT.
Drop me an email if you want me to snailmail you a few Bob The builder DVD's.
Nice weekend

iPod: Akron/Family's Akron/Family, Beck's The Information, Brazilian girls's Talk to La Bomb, The Decemberists's The Crane Wife, Handsome Boy Modeling School's White People, New Found Glory's Coming Home, and What Made Milwaukee Famous's Trying to Never Catch Up.
I have a five week old right now so I'm not watching many movies just yet or TV for that matter.
Since we live in Australia, I think "Grey's Anatomy" is the only one of the TV shows anyone's mentioned that is on the air here - and I haven't seen it. And I don't think TIVO is available here (at least, I've never seen it).
And we haven't been to the movie theatre in 18 months or so...I think you already read all the same blogs I do - I'm not being much help here, am I?
My iPod is currently rotating a lot of The Clash, Tito Puente, Depeche Mode, Johnny Cash, Cut Chemist, Oingo Boingo, and Carmen Miranda. Weird, I know.
Gilmore Girls? Do you watch after your fix of "Saved By The Bell"?
iPod - Dave Matthews, The Bad Plus, Rat Pack, and some 70's Funk
Kara -- Yeah, I'm sorta linkin' The Class - I don't know what it is about it, but there's something.
Arwen -- Ok - found some Black Keys and me likey - ok, I'm easy, hard guitar? Sold. We'll have to agree to disagree on Heroes - it might just be a guy thing. Oh - and btw - Massive Attack is always good - anytime.
Sarah -- Football? You? I'd never guess. I'm trying to win us some swag on Blingo as well - keep your fingers crossed.
Melissa -- Smith is pretty good - it's on my list of faves this season. I think Mrs. Big Dubya and I are among that 25% that don't watch Grey's - just never got into it. But I love Numb3rs and have since it started.
Wonder Mom -- thanks for coming by - I'll make sure Sarah gets her referral payment. Bang Tango? Really? Do I know you? I think there are only about 10 fans out there. Interesting to see them, Depeche Mode and Queensryche on someone's list. I will cede my corwn of eclecticism to you.
Metro -- you still watching House? I gave up on it - I'm not sure why. I think I look at House the same way I would at Jessica Fletcher (Murder She Wrote) - whereever she is someone dies, best to avoid her at all costs. I think if House is your doctor, you're in for some rough shit. Plain and simple.
Devra -- thanks for coming by and commenting - much appreciated. A Marx Brothers fan and The Planet of the Apes? You can be my friend anytime. Especiall with The Cure and Yaz on your playlists.
Sue -- C needs TiVo. NEEDS. She just doesn't know it yet. You should get and make her happy.
Zero -- yes, The Departed does look excellent. Even more so when you've had beers with and shaken the hands of those people these characters are loosely based on. Honest.
Adveturedad --hmmmm, wild sex, huh? That might be more enjoyable after Mrs. Big Dubya delivers Baby Dub in seven weeks or so. But we'll keep that in mind. We have Bib the Builder - we even have one where Bob speaks with an Irish accent - feckin' brilliant!
Sean --- I've already offered you a congrats and thanked you for stopping by. I hope this isn't your first exposure to Mr. Big Dubya - I'm really not this vanilla. I do have better days.
A) If you're not watching Battlestar Galactica you're insane. Best show on TV. Go rent the DVDs if you need to catch up. Oh, and South Park is back!
B) Heavy rotation on the iPod includes everything you said, plus the new Beck, Lilly Allen, Junior Boys, Guster (love that one), Yo La Tengo, and Kelley Stoltz.
C) just saw V for Vendetta, and thought it was really good. I also liked Inside Man, Enron: the Smartest Guys in the Room, and the Sea Inside.
D) You should read Cheeky's Hideaway. It's the best blog I've ever seen.
Oh, I forgot to mention the new live My Morning Jacket disk is really good, and I've been digging Ted Leo & the Pharmacists. And anything...and I do mean ANYTHING...by the Black Keys
TiVo - Well I've been watching General Hospital for 24 years now (and no, I'm not old, I just started watching it young), so TiVo always gets that. As for new shows I'm liking Brothers and Sisters. And for the cheap laughs I'll go with 'Til Death. From past years it's Desperate Housewives, ER, Gilmore Girls and I'm waiting for the OC to start back up again. And for my other half well Mr. Tall guy likes This Old House and This Old House Classics.
iPod - I'm not cool enough to own one. I just listen to Matty in the Morning as I walk Chester. I know, very low tech, but what can you do.
Movies? Sorry can't help you there, but Departed is getting good reviews, so add that to a future DVD list.
-Aunt P
Watch: Friday Night Lights (best new show of the season), Galactica, and The Class actually made me laugh out loud.
Listen to: Band of Horses
Read the following blog: www.wwtdd.com
And hurry, before Kim Jong-Il nukes us all.
Tivo: Unfortunately, my Tivo seems to be mostly controlled with Season Passes for Scooby-Doo, That's So Raven, Kim Possible and several other Disney Shows. I have not had much time for television myself, but I do manage to record CSI (the original), and periodically snare a few episodes of The Daily Show/Colbert Report.
No iPod here. And not much music either. I have lately taken to taking audiobooks and ripping them into MP3s to listen to on my PDA/Phone/MP3 player.
Movies? I can't tell you the last time I saw a movie that wasn't animated. OK, one, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. But that might as well have been animated. The last 3 movies I have actually watched all the way through (that weren't old like Twister which I watched over the weekend). Ice Age 2, Chicken Little and The Jungle.
Blogs - well I read a similar mix as you, and as for sites, I know our politics don't match, so neither would our choice of sights (most likely).
Bloggers Block - we all get it from time to time. Don't push it... it will come.
