Blogging will probably be light this week. I know, I know, you're saying to yourself, "And that's different than other weeks, how?" Well, the Dubyas are going on vacation starting Thursday and will be out of the loop for a few days. Much like Pookie joneses for his next rock, I'm sure I will be experiencing some serious withdrawal without Google Reader and Gmail. I guess there's always my phone's browser.
Anyway, Mrs. Big Dubya and I have a new post up over at Dad Said, Mom Said and the death of the jet-setting Dubyas since having children.
Speaking of Mrs. Big Dubya, she has gathered some other moms and dads and started a group blog called, The Whinery. Always on the lookout for good grape juice, she thought getting reviews and opinions from other parents about wine would help expand our horizons, broaden our palates and help us maintain a good, healthy buzz. How else to cope with the whining of toddlers? See how that all ties together? Whining...The Whinery...pretty clever, huh?
Ok, if you don't have a hi-def TV you must get one. Now! Run! I am seeing things on television I have never seen before. I am seeing detail on DVDs I never knew existed. If you watch Toy Story, you can actually see the texture on Mr. Potato Head. I was watching GamePlayHD the other night and checking out the Battlefield 2142 tournament championship. I couldn't take my eyes off it. I've never played the game but the detail was so rich I was mesmerized. Then yesterday, I watched bits and pieces of Depeche Mode: Touring the Angel Live in Milan and I felt like I was front row. And don't get me started on watching the Sox on NESN-HD. Drool And once I get the surround sound hooked up? Never. Leaving. The. House.
A little contest: the first one that correctly names the movie that will christen the new home theater set-up wins a mix cd compiled by yours truly. I may even throw on something from last year's Shittiest Mix Tape Challenge. You know you haven't truly lived until you've heard Andrew Ridgley solo. Mrs. Big Dubya and Aunt P are not eligible to enter.

10 opined:
Hmmm. Lock, Stock?
The Bridges of Madison County? Fried Green Tomatoes? Oh, wait, I know -- Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants! That would look incredible in HD!
I don't think that it is fair that I'm excluded from the contest!
I think Pee-Wee's big adventure would look pretty good in HD.
Or any movie with Alyssa Milano.
Have a great vacation. I'd throw a DVC DVD into the home theater--we probably have about 5 of them around.
The Princess Bride
Tron
Pan's Labyrinth
I don't know enough.
But if it's Princess Bride, cool!
However, I'd have to guess something HD.
My husband christened our HD TV with The Matrix and Kill Bill series.
The family christened it with Planet Earth on Discovey Channel (wicked cool).
We've also watched Gwen Stefani, John Legend and John Mayer concerts, also wicked cool---and you're right, like you are there.
My husband guesses Lord of the Rings but says he hopes you mean Red Sox.
I guess Casino Royale because that's what we're watching when we get time LOL.
Have a nice trip!
Well, I would have said porn but my husband, who recently got a new plasm/HD TV thingamawhoozit too, said the Lord of the Rings trilogy. Specifically the third and final movie because it has all the fight scenes.
I'm still going with porn.
Sarah -- A Guy Ritchie mini-festival might not be a bad idea
TwoBusy -- um...that was last weekend's line-up. Did you hack my Netflix account or something?
Aunt P -- because you of all people (next to my wife) should know exactly what's gonna be cued up.
CTD -- I was thinking of a Pee Wee's Playhouse marathon but leading it off with the original HBO special from way back when. Shoe Mirrors!
Darren -- dude, there's more to life than DVC -- pssst, don't tell Whit I said that.
Whit -- wow, those are certainly excellent choices - I thin Tron would rock, but is it any good sober?
Julie -- The Matrix is definitely one that will get some play. LOTR trilogy is also an excellent choice. Of course Red Sox - do you think Chicky would be commenting here if it were someone else?
Chicky -- not sure if I really want to see that in 50" of hi-def. Shudder Wow, that's a mental image I won't be able to shake for the rest of the day.
Another reason for HD:
Tina Cervasio.
